The only organised bike ride I did this summer was the 100 km Cotswold Sportiv on the 27th of May. The ride started and finished in Stratford-upon-Avon. The route took us through several Cotswold villages, including Stanway where there was a substantial climb of two miles, averaging 7 %. This will be a good one to train on if I make another visit to the Alpes.
Gethin organised our entry to the sportiv, in aid of Cyclists Fighting Cancer. The ride was a walk in the park for Gethin, but helped with his preparation for the Etape du Tour that he completed during this year’s Tour de France.
I hope that the weather is better next year: I haven’t been out on my bike anywhere near enough this summer. Perhaps I will enter the Solihull to Oxford ride in 2013.
